GALILEO

Welcome to the How To guide for GALILEO!

What is GALILEO?

GALILEO is an excellent online database developed right here in Georgia! The name stands for GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online. It is used by colleges and universities of all types within Georgia, and contains newspaper and journal articles on a variety of topics. Many instructors will ask their students to write papers using sources outside of the textbook. In many cases, that's where GALILEO comes in!

Why use GALILEO?

GALILEO makes it possible to search journal and newspaper articles. Instead of sitting in a library and reading through trade magazine after trade magazine to find the desired information, the database makes it possible to search in one place and access hundreds of articles. In this way, it is very similar to Google; however, Google provides results from web sites, which may not be the most trustworthy resources. GALILEO's articles come from published magazines or newspapers and are considered more reliable for use in a paper.
